HOW TO PLANT WILD IRIS SEEDS

When To Plant

Iris seeds do best if planted directly outdoors in the Fall.

Where To Plant

The Wild Iris only needs soil that is ordinary and moist, but well drained. They also do well in full sun.

How To Plant

The seeds should not be planted deeply; they just need to be compressed into the soil, as they need light to germinate.

If planting in rows, then plant the seeds 15” to 20” apart.

How To Care For the Iris

These varieties of Iris seeds generally germinate in about 2-3 months. You can thin the seedlings to 15” to 20” apart after they emerge.

Iris should be watered regularly, but they can tolerate dry conditions. It is not necessary to fertilize Iris.

It generally takes about 120 days for the Iris to bloom after the seed is planted.
